The first Pavo pre-selection was held in Oudkarspel on June 24th. The victory in the four-year-old class went to Romano (by Kjento), who scored 83 points under Robbin Kleermans.
Brecht D’Hoore and Bart Bax assessed the group of 23 four-year-olds. They awarded Romano (Kjento out of Ketschuna elite pref IBOP-dres PROK D-OC by Furst Heinrich, breeder: H. Germs of Midwolde) an 8.5 for his walk and canter, as well as for his submission. “This horse stood out because, for a four-year-old, he was already very consistent around the arena with a beautiful, open contact,” explains Brecht D’Hoore. “He remained very consistent throughout the entire performance, which is reflected in the scores. This horse showed great power and scope in all three gaits, and he already gave a complete impression for a four-year-old.”
Second place also went to a Kjento offspring. Rose-Bel Taonga (out of Darabel elite pref prest IBOP-dres sport-dres PROK by Westpoint, breeder: Stal 104 BV from Wijdewormer) received 82 points under Franka Loos. This elite mare inherited her talent from a stranger; her dam, Darabel, competed at Grand Prix level and also produced the KWPN stallion Kilimanjaro. “You can see Kjento in this mare’s mind; otherwise, she’s very similar to her dam. She impressed with her ability to transition and continued to move beautifully upwards, leaving a very positive impression.”
