Den Hout- The British National Grand Prix Championships will be held in Hartpury (GB) on 21 and 22 December. It promises to be a very exciting battle with all the British top riders such as Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester. Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro “Rider and Horse of the Decade

Charlotte Dujardin and her top horse Valegro have been named ‘Rider of the Decade’ and ‘Horse of the Decade’ by the readers of the British horse magazine Horse & Hound. Dujardin writes on Instagram: “It really means a lot to me as a rider and to everyone involved with Blueberry!

The choice of the British readership is not entirely surprising, Charlotte Dujardin and her Olympic horse Valegro are immensely popular in their country. In the period from 2011 to 2020, Dujardin has won everything that could be won with the Negro son. At the Games in London and Rio they were three gold and one silver medal. At the World Equestrian Games in Caen it was only gold. She also became European champion three times with Valegro and she won the World Cup final twice. “He has never, never abandoned us, not his country or Charlotte,” said Carl Hester at the award ceremony.

World record freestyle 94.30%

Dujardin’s pick of 19 medals this decade, 13 of them gold. The medals she won with Mount St. John Freestyle (by Fidermark) are also included here. Dujardin also has about 100 international victories to her name. In March 2011 Charlotte Dujardin appeared on the international stage and that was in Vidauban with Valegro. Valegro deserves the election for all the victories he achieved with his rider. The pair also managed to improve the world record scores of Totilas. The world record in the freestyle was set at 94.30%

“I could not have dreamed of double gold”

In the interview with H&H, Charlotte Dujardin says: “The highlight of my career is London 2012 – it was my first Olympic Games, and I never dreamed to get away with double gold.”

“Journey far from over”

“It was a fantastic journey and it is still not over. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for me ”, the rider writes on Instagram.
