Pavo Cup
The annual Pavo Cup was, of course, once again a contest during the KWPN Championships. After several preliminary rounds across the country, the best 4- and 5-year-olds competed for this title. The KWPN-approved stallions Pjethro, Powerdale, Real Dream, Roderick, and Renzo were presented by Charlotte Fry and Zandra Birkeland.
All the stallions, in the impressive surroundings of Ermelo, gave their best in the semi-finals. Roderico came up just short of advancing to the final but certainly left a very positive impression. The remaining four stallions easily qualified for the final on Saturday.
In the five-year-old class, Charlotte presented both Pjethro and Powerdale.
Powerdale, Glamourdale x Johnson, bred and still jointly owned by the Hoogenboom family from Lemelerveld, qualified for the final in twelfth place with a very consistent performance and score sheet. In this final, the bay stallion ultimately secured a 16th-place finish for the Netherlands.
The chestnut stallion Pjethro, Kjento x Desperado and bred by Mr. Beerens from De Moer, impressed with his movements and finished in fourth place. In the final, the stallion seemed even more at ease in the arena, finishing second with a massive score of 92.4% and also climbing to second place in the standings. Australian Simone Pearce was brought in as a test rider and was allowed to try out the three highest-ranking horses. She came off him with a smile on her face and said she was very impressed with the stallion’s qualities.
Next up were the four-year-old stallions Real Dream with Lottie and Renzo with Zandra.
The beautiful black Renzo, Kjento x Rousseau, bred by Mrs. Reijrink from Diessen, impressed with his appearance and movements, achieving a score of 84.8%.
Real Dream, Dynamic Dream x Negro, bred by Maatschap Pleyter from Zalk, excelled under Lottie, also achieving a score of 84.8%.
In the final on Saturday, Renzo maintained his good form and climbed a few more places in the standings. With a total score of 168.8%, they secured sixth place!
Real Dream, on the other hand, was even more convincing than in the semi-final and, with a superb ride, moved up to third place in the standings with 170.8 points. He was also put through his paces by Simone Pearce, and, like the second-place finisher, received 85 points for his override. This allowed him to take home the bronze medal!
