Looking back at some highlights of 2019

With a look back at some of our highlights from last year, we wish everyone a happy and successful new year.

Our high points were:

Kjento shows his qualities during the Stallion Competition.

Glamourdale shines in the Inter I, Aachen

Everdale scores nearly 83% during Kur on music, London Olympia

Lantanas approved KWPN

Lewis approved KWPN

A successful show for Lottie in Mecehelen!

At the same time as the 3rd Stallion Competition round in Zuidbroek, the World Cup competition was held in the Nekkerhal in Mechelen.

Collecting the necessary World Cup points was the important job for Lottie, therefore Mechelen was given priority over Zuidbroek (Stallion Competition).

Dark Legend

Dark Legend (by Zucchero) competed in the World Cup competition in Mechelen. In the Grand Prix Lottie scored a beautiful almost 74% score with Dark Legend, which was good for a 2nd place. On Sunday was the Freestyle competition, Dark Legend again went very well, and even with 2 expensive errors, a score of 79.075% was awarded which is a personal best for the combination! This was good for a 5th place. This again produced the World Cup points required, so all in all we are very satisfied.

Graaf Leatherdale T

In addition to Dark Legend, Lottie had taken “Graaf Leatherdale T” for the Light Tour. The talented Lord Leatherdale son had not done a large indoor competition before, but despite that he impressed in the Prix St. George with a nice 2nd place on Saturday and a score of 71.088%. Sunday during the Inter I Freestyle to music, it became a bit too much for him in the busy hall with the loud music. Lottie had her hands full to guide him through the test. He showed his qualities, but the chances of a good score were lost. Despite this, Graaf Leatherdale T has gained a lot of experience. Our expectations for the future are high for him.

Kjento ( v. Negro ) also impresses at Zuidbroek and leads his age group into the final

On Saturday 28 December, the 3rd round of the Stallion Competition was held in the beautifully decorated and cozy halls in Zuidbroek. At Van Olst Horses there were some logistical challenges, because the regular rider from Kjento and Jayson (Charlotte Fry) had to compete at exactly the same time as Zuidbroek in the World Cup competition in Mechelen. In order collect the necessary World Cup points, she could not let this competition go. That is why our stable rider Manuel Springhetti was allowed the ‘honour’ in Zuidbroek.

Kjento

A few days before Zuidbroek, Manuel took the first sit in the saddle of Kjento and Jayson and in Zuidbroek Kjento (by Negro) again showed a super performance.

The black Kjento showed his super qualities in all his 3 basic gaits, and although the assessment of his excellent step with an 8 was on the frugal side, he scored a 9.5 on all other components, so again a super score. (92 points)

The battle in the Stallion Competition class L remains exciting. The top 3 is close together. Kjento is in the lead in the intermediate classification after three rounds, followed by King Karim and Taminiau. The grand finale will take place during the KWPN stallion show in ‘s-Hertogenbosch on Saturday 1 February.

Jayson

Zuidbroek was less successful for Jayson (by Johnson). The black Johnson son built up tension due to the television screen on the short side. Connoisseurs could recognize his qualities, but Jayson clearly ran his weakest test so far.

With both stallions we are looking forward to the finals of the Stallion Competition during the KWPN Stallion Show on February 1 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Everdale scores almost 83% during freestyle music in London Olympia. (See Video)

After a fantastic third place during the Grand Prix World Cup qualification in London Olympia (75.789%), Charlotte Fry and the KWPN-approved stallion Everdale also secured a super third place during the Freestyle Freestyle with 82.620%

Everdale (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro) impressively made his world cup debut this week. While Charlotte Fry and Everdale already rode their personal record in the Grand Prix on Monday, the combination added a little extra during the freestyle, and that also means a new personal record for the stallion that only has a few international Grand Prix under his belt!

“I’m really happy with it,” says Charlotte. “Everdale was fantastic and made me feel great. I think we both enjoyed every second! The freestyle was clear and he improved a lot in everything. Every time he enters a competition, he gets better. It is a fantastic horse and there is still more to come. London Olympia is one of the most beautiful competitions I have ever done. The atmosphere is beautiful, the audience is great and this is a very special show.”

‘Everdale and Charlotte Fry shine at Olympia’

The Grand Prix for the World Cup was on Monday at the prestigious Olympia competition in London.

When Charlotte Fry and Everdale (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro x El Corona) came in as the seventh starter, the “leading score” stood at 72.395%. The super talented Everdale seems to enjoy the difficult exercises and executed them with ease. Charlotte managed to take over the leader with a final score of 75.368%, which obtained a great 3rd place, with a very small difference with number two, Carl Hester with Hawtins Delicato 75.789%. The final winner was Charlotte Dujardin with Mount St John Freestyle.

The audience was very enthusiastic and the applause broke out after the 23-year-old Fry said only hello! “I’m still shaking, but it was great here…it was really fantastic. I can hardly believe that I am sitting next to Carl and Charlotte during the press conference. This is our best test and best score so far, “Charlotte said for the first time in Olympia.

The Kur of Music World Cup will be broadcast live tonight (17-12-2019) at 19.25 English time, 20.25 Dutch time, via BBC Sport.

The qualification competition for the Subli-Cup in Emmeloord took place on Saturday 12 October. Jeroen Leatherdale G (by Lord Leatherdale x Negro x Nimmerdor bred by: C.v.Gorkum - Udenhout) was the winner of the five-year-old competition. With a top score of 83.4 points, the impressive Lord Leatherdale son won the class under Charlotte Fry.

The KWPN / NRPS stallion Jayson (by Johnson x Negro x Wisconsin, bred by: Mr. Verschuren - Berkel Enschot) also showed his qualities under Charlotte Fry.
Jayson scored a beautiful 80.8 score, which resulted in a nice 4th place, despite an interpretation error in the test that resulted in a 1 point deduction.

00 Seven, bred by: N. van Hunnik - Zetten) ridden by Roselinde Heck.

Layla by Glamourdale claims the best score IBOP Panningen

From the five successful dressage mares, the three-year-old filly owned by J. Ummels out of Helmond sired by Glamourdale and out of the mare Zhakira ster by Rousseau (bred by H. van de Bogaard from Aarle Rixtel) took the best score. With and 8.5 for the canter and the rideability/trainability bringing her to a total of 81.5 points. “This large framed mare is a star for the future. Busy Transfer window at Van Olst Horses

The transfer window at Van Olst Horses, much like the transfer window in football, is currently up and running.

Stable rider Franka Loos, has decided to take on a new challenge, and therefore will stop her activities at Van Olst Horses from 1st September 2019.

Stable rider Antonio Laiz Zandio, alongside his brother, have set up a company in Mierlo. This company now demands so much attention from him that the work as well as traveling to and from Den Hout has become too much, so the decision to stop his activities at Van Olst Horses has been made.

Manager Goffe- Nill van der Zeijden and Van Olst Horses have jointly agreed that the activities of Goffe- Nill will also come to an end from 1st September 2019.

Van Olst Horses would like to thank these wonderful people for all their efforts, and wish them plenty of prosperity and happiness in their future endeavours.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard Alvaro Gomez Pavon has made his debut in Den Hout. Alvaro Gomez Pavon is one of the new stable riders at Van Olst Horses. Alvaro previously has enjoyed his training with the Spanish Olympic rider Jordi Domingo.

At Van Olst Horses there is still room for a stable rider. We are looking for a rider with most importantly ambition and a good attitude, as well as talent and previous experience (for more information: info@vanolsthorses.com)
