Top scorers of Van Olst Horses at IBOP

Two three-year-old mares scored exactly 85 points during the IBOP test in Velddriel. The NMK mare Peru Dos (by Kjento), breeder Gerard de Bruyn from Schelluinen reached this total with only 8.5’s. “This mare showed a very even performance and is easy to ride. She walks actively, with good shoulder freedom and flexibility. She has a very strong trot, in which she brings her hind leg under well and moves through the track with a lot of impulsion, posture and carriage. We also saw that attitude in the canter, in which she combines good impulsion with leg technique.”

A 9.5 for the canter also brought Prima Donna M (by Glamourdale) from breeder E. Meijer from Landgraaf) to 85 points. “This mare made a somewhat greener impression, but was already very good to ride and was good at the aids. Her walk is active and was a bit tense at first, allowing her to show more body use and transition, but this improved as the performance progressed. She trots with good leg technique, can switch very well and continues to supplement nicely from the hind leg. Her canter is very impressive and she certainly seems to have inherited that from her father: she has a lot of space, a lot of impulsion, always remains very nicely balanced on the hind leg and does everything with remarkable ease. A really great canter.”

New record for Kjento daughter Patchouli Vera; 92.5 points during the IBOP

A new record was achieved during the IBOP in Velddriel. Patchouli Vera (Kjento x Bordeaux, breeder F.A. de Voogd from Oudelande) received 92.5 points for her performance.
With only 9s and four 9.5s, she achieved the exceptional total of 92.5 points: a new record!
“An extremely high score, for an extremely talented horse! It was a real pleasure for us to watch, horses of this caliber only come along very occasionally,” Wim Versteeg is enthusiastic. “She walks with a lot of space, overstep and good use of her body. In the trot she stands out with her good tact, swing and she can extend and come back on the hind leg extremely well, without losing any balance. She trots with a very good use of the hind leg, she’s always uphill. And that for a mare that is three years old and 1.75m tall!
We also saw the same image in the canter, in which she has a lot of balance and posture, stays well uphill and canters with a lot of leg technique and body use. Patchouli Vera is a very athletic dressage horse that’s easy to ride.” This generously developed mare scored 80 points for conformation, which immediately made her an elite mare. This mare previously won the VWF Dressage Competition at Manege de Prinsenstad.

Annemijn talks about her mare: “What makes Patchouli so good is that all 3 of her gaits are really good, she has a good hind leg, a lot of looseness and is also very sweet. For her age, she also has very good balance.”

He has a very active way of walking and remains pure very well. The trot is also characterized by strength, in which it shows the ability to easily come back on the hind leg. The trot is light-footed and active with nice use of the frontleg. In the canter we saw a lot of bending in the joints and it remains well closed.”

Top Prix st Georges debut Kjento

The two-time world champion Kjento (Negro x Jazz), bred by the Van Os family from Sprang Capelle, made his debut in regular sport yesterday. The eight-year-old KWPN stallion made his debut at the Subtop competition in Delft. Rider Charlotte Fry and Kjento rode there very first Prix St. Georges to a great score of 76.692%. In addition to a clear victory, the duo also obtained a coveted ticket for the Prix St. Georges at Jumping Amsterdam.

After the 2022 World Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo, it was Kjento’s first time in the ring again. “I found it very exciting but it went very well. Kjento was great,” Fry praises the stallion. “Kjento is a horse that enjoys his work, is not spooky in the ring and also does the work very easily. A really nice horse to work with!”

With a score of 76.692% they managed to win this competition by force majeure. The protocol includes a whole series of 8’s, 8.5’s and even 9’s for the canter half pass to the right with flying change, the changes on every three strides and the extended canter. “It went very well, but we had a little thing in the first pirouette. I had not prepared it well enough and that caused a small mistake.” But other then that I’m really really happy with this debut.
